Vietnamese Rock Concert Protested In Dallas

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — An estimated 200 Vietnamese-Americans protested peacefully and without incident outside the Majestic Theatre downtown Dallas on November 14 against Vietnamese rock group Vung Troi Binh Yen, or Peaceful Sky. The protesters that their performance helped promote communism and rallied sympathy for the Vietnamese government.

"We still have no freedom," said protest leader Andy Nguyen, chairman of the Vietnamese-American Community of Greater Tarrant County, in the Dallas Morning News. "There is no respect for democracy. There is no respect for human rights."

Their efforts were somewhat successful. Nguyen said they had persuaded about 30 people to not attend the performance and leave. About 900 people attended the concert. — Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
