V.I.P. Gives Up Van Halen Logo

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A Philadelphia gay hip hop group, V.I.P., has agreed to stop printing CDs and remove all occurrences of a logo that was described as “confusingly similar” to the famous Van Halen logo, according to Van Halen’s attorneys.

The parody logo appears on the cover of V.I.P.’s debut, “Mad Coke,” which is full of humorous but graphic lyrics about oral sex and drug use.

A letter was sent to Collision/Collider Records, run by V.I.P.’s Andrew Ryan, asking the band to cease and desist, and threatening legal action if it does not comply.

V.I.P. has already removed the logo from their website, and will cover it on remaining copies of their CD’s. Ryan believes that it “may have been less of an issues if we weren’t a gay hip-hop group,” according to the Philadelphia Daily News. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
