UPDATE: Wilkin Named COO Of CCE Effective October 1

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire)-
Clear Channel Entertainment has appointed Miles Wilkin to chief operating officer for the company, effective October 1, 2004. Wilkin assumes administrative and operational responsibility for the company's divisions and assets.

Wilkin's tenure with the company dates back to his role as chairman and founder of Pace Theatrical Group, which he led to become one of the largest theatrical organizations in North America. Under Clear Channel Entertainment, he has served as chairman of CCE-Theatrical Worldwide and chairman of CCE-Europe as well as executive vice president of the company with responsibility for theatrical, sports, motor sports, exhibitions and corporate initiatives.

"Miles has a deep knowledge of our business, having been in a leadership role in every division, including international operations, over the last 20 years," said Brian Becker, chairman and CEO of Clear Channel Entertainment. "His broad-based responsibilities and corporate role during the last year makes this appointment a natural progression."

The move completes a corporate leadership plan for Clear Channel Entertainment that began earlier this year and included the appointment of Mike McGee to the corporate executive team overseeing the areas of real estate, public and employee relations and cross-divisional businesses.

"Miles Wilkin, Mike McGee and I will work together to manage the implementation of our business strategies," said Becker. "Their operational oversight will enable us to work seamlessly in our day-to-day activities, as well as move entrepreneurially into new ventures."

The status of CCE Music co-CEOs Don Law in Boston and Dave Lucas in Indianapolis are unclear, although both are expected to stay with CCE and reporting to Wilkin and Rapino.

CCE Chairman/CEO Brian Becker still heads the music division. Becker and Wilkins used to work together at Pace Concerts in the 1980's. Pace was later sold to SFX, which in turn was acquired by Clear Channel Communications.

Lucas insists that business is status quo. "Everything is as it has been," he told Billboard.biz
