Toby Keith Joins The Ranks Of The Surprised Courtesy Of Sarah Palin

ATLANTA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Toby Keith has joined with rapper LL Cool J in expressing surprise at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's use of old interview footage of the artists for an upcoming television special in which she profiles "real Americans."

According to to the L.A. Times, Keith's rep Elaine Schock said that Toby had never been interviewed by Palin and that the footage being used dated from early 2009. Schock went on to note that Fox did have the right to use the material.

Palin had incorporated the interview footage as part of her forthcoming special for Fox News. Rapper LL Cool J protested when he discovered that one of his old interviews had been used in a similar fashion and Fox reportedly pulled the segment.

"I don’t have a problem that it’s airing,” Schock told the Times, "I’m concerned they didn’t call me. We would have liked to have known."

Fox News producers produced an email that they claim they sent to Schock to notify her of the use of the interview, but Schock said she never received it.

The fence-straddling Keith, who describes himself as a "conservative Democrat" is known for his ardent support of the troops and has appeared on Fox News shows numerous times in recent years. The interview in question featured Keith discussing his song “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)” and his USO tour and “had nothing to do with Sarah Palin,” Schock told the Times.

Palin is a controversial figure, who ran unsuccessfully as the Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008. More recently, she has become a sought-after figure on the lecture circuit and a Fox News pundit. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
