Timberwolves Sued Over Ticketing

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (CelebrityAccess) — The Minnesota Timberwolves are facing a class action lawsuit over their ticketing policies.

According to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press, the lawsuit was brought against the Timberwolves in Hennepin County District Court claiming that the team's use of digital marketplace Flash Seats creates economic harm for fans, and violates contracts, state trade acts and anti-trust laws.

The lead plantiffs, season-ticket holders GLS Companies of Brooklyn Park and James Mattson, claim that they were not fairly notified about changes to the team's ticketing policies after they agreed to spend more than 50,000 collectively on season tickets in 2015-2016.

The Timberwolves partnered with Flash Seats in 2015, becoming the first professional sports team to go fully digital for ticket sales. Ticketholders require the purchasing credit card, a valid ID or a smart phone app to enter the team's home at the Target Center.

“The Timberwolves and Lynx organizations are confident that Flash Seats supplies the best possible experience for our fans,” Timberwolves President Chris Wright told the Pioneer Press. “Flash Seats gives our ticket holders the maximum possible convenience and complete control over their Timberwolves and Lynx tickets. We are committed to continuing to give our fans the best possible experience.” – Staff Writers
