Three William Morris Agency Execs Resign

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A management shake-up at the William Morris Agency has resulted in the December 17 resignation of three top executives.

Citing "philosophical differences" over the company's direction, Sam Haskell, a 26-year veteran of the agency and most recently worldwide head of television, Richard Rosenberg, a 12-year veteran who helped oversee the agency's music business, and Steve Kram, COO, and with the company for 17 years, all resigned. Their official last date is December 27. All three sold their ownership shares back to the agency, William Morris said in a statement.

"The bottom line is the company has gone through a number of changes over the years, with numerous people in charge," Rosenberg said. "We wanted to simplify management. The partnership was difficult. There were too many opinions."

Jim Wiatt, WMA's chief exec, told the New York Times, their departures were amicable and were negotiated over the last month.

It is now believed there will be a consolidation of power with Wiatt having more influence over the decision-making process.

As part of the changes, David Wirtschafter, who joined the company in 1999 and was head of the motion picture group, will take over as president, a position formerly held by Wiatt, and Irv Weintraub, the CFO, was named COO. — Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
