Thomas Ovesen Tapped For Senior Role At Dubai Arena

DUBAI (CelebrityAccess) — Thomas Ovesen, a facilities management veteran with a wealth of experience has been appointed to oversee event programming at the AEG Ogden managed Dubai Arena.

Ovesen, in his new role of Vice President for Programming, will be the first member of arena Chief Executive, Guy Ngata’s senior management team and will assume his new duties at the start of the year, the company said.

“Thomas oversaw the launch of the new Autism Rocks Arena and an impressive events calendar that featured among others Nicky Minaj, Gabriel Iglesias, Elton John, Bryan Adams, Guns ‘N Roses, Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran. It’s quality international standard acts such as those plus more that we’re looking to bring to Dubai Arena," AEG Ogden CEO and Chairman, Harvey Lister said in a statement announcing Ovesen's appointment.

“His understanding of the region and the local live entertainment scene and its players will be vital to Guy and his management team as they plan an event schedule second to none anywhere, ahead of the Arena’s opening in 2019,” Lister added.

Including his tenure at 117 Live, Ovesen has spent almost 17 years with Mirage Promotions, AEG Live and Done Events, providing him with extensive experience in events management and delivering large-scale concerts in the politically challenging market.

Located at City Walk with close proximity to the Dubai International Airport and accessible via the Dubai Metro, the multi-configuration 17,000 seat arena is owned by Meraas, a Dubai-based holding company with close ties to his Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

Construction on the arena is underway currently and is slated to be completed in the last quarter of 2018.
