The Revolution Will Be Televised

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — ABC News is partnering with New York Public Television station WNET to broadcast an upcoming February 26th concert by the New York Philharmonic in Pyongyang, North Korea.

According to the New York Times, the broadcast will take place before dawn New York time and a live broadcast will be made available for any interested parties by EuroArts Music International, a producer of classical music content. The recorded concert will then be broadcast on the evening of Feb. 26 on WNET and then two days later to PBS generally.

The recording is unusual as North Korea is a tightly-controlled and very isolated nation which maintains a tight control over it's citizens. No determination has been made yet if the concert broadcast will actually be available to the citizens of North Korea.

The Met will be in the region as a part of a tour of Taiwan and China. They plan to play Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 "From the New World", Gershwin's "American in Paris" and the Prelude to Act III of Wagner’s "Lohengrin" for the Pyongyang concert – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
