Sugar Ray Concert To Be Broadcast Live In Movie Theaters

There is a certain belief in the touring industry that the increased cost of touring will actually curtail some touring, especially in secondary and tertiary markets. At Tour Guide's Tour Link confab this past March, veteran business manager Jay Sendyk of Sendyk/Leonard, forecast where an act would play a venue and have the show broadcast in various theaters in those unplayed markets.

That time is now.

The bill of Sugar Ray/Uncle Kracker are about to test the concept when their Aug. 15 concert at Atlanta's The Tabernacle is also broadcast into 14 theaters across the country via the Cinemark movie theater chain. It also helps the theater chain fill potentially empty movie seats with concertgoers. The ticket cost will be $15.

Cinemark will be showing the concert in Orlando; Grandville, Mich.; Rochester, N.Y.; Dallas; Austin, Texas; and other cities.
