Steelers Scrap North Shore Live

PITTSBURGH (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A plan under consideration by the Pittsburgh Steelers to develop an amphitheater and entertainment complex on the North Shore has been abandoned.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the team has notified the state that they are withdrawing their requests for $10 million in grant money in order to regroup and prepare a new plan to submit by the end of the year.

The plan had consisted of a sheltered amphitheater, along a complex featuring restaurants and nightclubs.

"The way the project was going was not going to be feasible for many reasons," Frank Kass chairman of land developer Continental Real Estate "Everyone parted as friends. The Steelers are now working on an alternative that we're working on with them."

According to Kass, the new complex under consideration will have nightclubs and an outdoor venue still, but be more "promotionally oriented."

A spokesman for the firm that the Steelers had been initially working with, Cordish & Co. of Baltimore were unavailable for comment. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
