Steelers In Negotiations With AEG Over New Venue

PITTSBURGH (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A deal between AEG and the Pittsburgh Steelers to build a new 10 million dollar entertainment complex situated near Heinz Field may be moving forward.

The Los Angeles Business Journal has reported that the proposed $10 dollar deal would create a 2,000 to 3,000 capacity, year-round venue that would be used for concerts and other events.

While there is no official ink on the deal yet, David Lockett, a spokesman for the Steelers has said that the franchise is in the final stages of the negotiation with AEG for the complex.

This isn't the first time that the franchise has flirted with the idea of an entertainment complex. Plans for a 5,600 seat amphitheater on the same site fell through last year when the logistics for financing and construction could not be worked out.

"I think it's just the evolution of that industry," Mark Hart, director of business for the Steelers organization told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "We want something that can be a business year round." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
