Starwood – Going, Going, Gone

ANTIOCH, TN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The final curtain has come down for the Starwood Amphitheatre and demolition got underway at the 65 acre property.

According to the Tennessean, the site of the former Tennessee shed will be redeveloped by Vastland Reality Group as a multi-use residential and commercial zone with town homes, restaurants and shops.

"What we heard loud and clear is they didn't want anymore apartments in that area, so we've been careful to work with the residents and listen to what they had to say and they've been very kind to us," said Real estate broker Ken Renner told the Tennessean "Every single person we surveyed said they wanted restaurants. There really isn't much choice in that area for sit down family dining."

The Starwood served as one of the primary music venues in the Nashville, Tennessee market. First opened in 1985, the shed featured one large and one small stage, a covered pavilion with reserved box seating and a large grassy area for open seating. An additional stage could be added per need in an area typically used for parking.

The venue routinely attracted top touring talent during the summer season but the size of these events often proved to be a significant challenge to local infrastructure with traffic jams resultant.

In the wake of a lean season in 2006, Live Nation, the operators of the facility, announced in February of last year that they were pulling the plug and canceled the 2007 season in anticipation of a pending sale. The final performance occurred on October 19th with the return of Aerosmith. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
