Staples Center Premium Seating Revenues Reach All-Time Highs In 2012

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — STAPLES Center, announced once again, all of the arena’s 150 private suites are fully leased for the current season. STAPLES Center also reached record revenues for all premium seating inventory in 2012.

The announcement was made by Shervin Mirhashemi, President, AEG Global Partnerships. In addition to worldwide sales of all naming rights and sponsorships for AEG’s portfolio of venues, concerts and sports franchises, Global Partnerships is responsible for the sales of suites, premium seating inventory and sponsorships for venues in AEG Facilities’ roster of venues including STAPLES Center.

As the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers began their fourteenth seasons at STAPLES Center, beginning with Kevin Hart on New Year’s Eve, in 2013, suite owners will also have the opportunity to experience concerts starring artists such as Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi, Rihanna, One Direction, Pink, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, The Who, Morrissey, Tiësto and Muse along with other concerts, special events, family and awards shows.

“The news that all of the suites have been sold is testament to the value owners place on programming, amenities, comfort and customer service provided by the STAPLES Center staff,” Mirhashemi said. “A great deal of credit also belongs to Sr. Vice President Mike Tomon and his team who developed a very innovative and strategic plan that not only resulted in our highest renewal rate in years but also identified dozens of new clients who both bought the few suites that came on the market as well as all of our remaining Premier Seats.”

Beginning early this year, Tomon and his AEG Global Partnerships staff, along with STAPLES Center’s management team, met to design a comprehensive suite renewal campaign that, for the first time included a wide ranging package of financial incentives, awards, exclusive events and special offers for those renewing their leases early or extend current agreements. Additional incentives also included suite-owners only trips to locations such as Mammoth Mountain, Las Vegas and southern California destinations as well as a selection of in-arena special offers and discounts in addition to private “behind-the-scenes” interactions and events with teams that play at STAPLES Center. In each case, the incentive packages and offers were ‘customized’ to support the individual suite owners lifestyles and needs based on surveys and one-on-one interviews conducted by AEG and STAPLES Center executives.

“Before we even began to design these unique renewal packages and offers, we initiated an extensive research program to study not only how our owners use their suites but also what their lives are like away from STAPLES Center,” said Tomon. “Our goal has always been to be assets and provide amenities and services to our owners not only when they entertain guests in their suites but also throughout their business and private lives away from STAPLES Center.”

Internationally known as ‘The Sports and Entertainment Center of the World,’ 2012 was another great year of noteworthy and important events hosted at STAPLES Center; perhaps most notable was that for the first time, all four of the arena’s anchor tenants qualifying for the playoffs the same year with the Lakers, Clippers and Kings being in the playoffs at the very same time and, for the first time in franchise history, the LA Kings winning the Stanley Cup. Add in one of the arena’s busiest concert seasons in recent memory that included shows staring Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber, Madonna, Mana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Enrique Iglesias & Jennifer Lopez, Kaskade, Scorpions, Nickelback, Black Keys and Lady Antebellum.

“I think the reason that our suite owners are the most loyal and committed group of owners any arena in the nation has is the fact that we continue to invest in booking the best schedule of concerts and special events that are on tour, in addition to our capital expense program that allows us to make state of the art improvements to the arena on an annual basis,” commented Lee Zeidman, Sr. Vice President and General Manager, STAPLES Center. “Combining our tremendous schedule of concerts and events with arguable the NBA’s two most talked about and exciting teams and you have the best package of sports and entertainment anywhere. Our guests continue to invest in us because they know that we are committed to maintaining our reputation as the industry’s best,” Zeidman added.

Sales of the Private Suites in addition to the arena’s 2600 Premier (club) Seats are handled by AEG Global Partnerships in association with STAPLES Center’s management. AEG Global Partnerships focuses on sponsorship and naming rights sales for all of AEG’s 100 plus venues, live events and music properties Worldwide as well as servicing and activation of partnerships at all such AEG-owned or affiliated assets. In addition, AEG Global Partnerships oversees the sales of all premium seating categories at company-owned venues such as STAPLES Center.

“The accomplishment of selling out all of STAPLES Center’s Private Suites should never be taken for granted,” added Mirhashemi. “Our staff did a great job of creating a variety of sales platforms to best take advantage of all of the assets that STAPLES Center could offer including the unprecedented array of sporting and entertainment events, the arena staff’s strong commitment to customer service and the amenities that only a facility like STAPLES Center could offer.

STAPLES Center suite owners receive tickets in their suite for every public event held in STAPLES Center during their multi-year lease including all NBA, NHL and WNBA pre-season, regular and post-season games, concerts, family shows, annual events such as the X Games and special events such as boxing and other exhibitions. Owners also receive the opportunity to purchase suites for “one-time, special private events” such as the annual Grammy Awards (held at STAPLES Center twelve times in thirteen years) and two NBA All-Star Weekends in the last eight years. STAPLES Center suite owners regularly have the opportunity to purchase special tickets to events at nearby AEG-operated venues such as Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, Club Nokia and The Home Depot Center among others. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
