SoundCloud Adds Customized Music Streams With Stations

BERLIN (CelebrityAccess) — After Apple decided to pull the plug on their free ad-supported iTunes Radio stations, music streaming service SoundCloud is trying to fill the void with the launch of their own music discovery 'radio' service.

Dubbed Stations, the service allows users, via a free SoundCloud app, to create personalized streams, based on any track, search term, content stream or a users music collection.

Stations draws from SoundCloud's massive library of more than 100 million tracks and creates a path for user music discovery that the service has long needed.

The company's station announcement comes on the heels of several high profile licensing deals with major players in recorded music, including Universal, Warner Music Group, Merlin and the National Music Publishers Association, with only Sony Records as the remaining hold-out among the major labels. – Staff Writers
