Sommet Center To Keep It's Name – For Now

NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Sommet Center will keep its name, for now, despite an agreement between the NHL's Nashville Predators and the Sommet Group to terminate their three-year naming rights agreement.

The Predators and Franklin-based Sommet, a payroll & human resources firm, had been in an ongoing legal dispute after the Predators filed suit against Sommet in November 2009. The suit alleged that Sommet had failed to make payments under the terms of the naming rights deal, while Sommet said that they had withheld payments because the Predators had purchased products and services, arbitrarily, from competitors, the Nashville Business Journal reported. Terms of the settlement between the two counter-parties were not disclosed.

"We are pleased to resolve this dispute in the best interests of both parties, and resume our working partnership." Ed Lang, Predators President of Business Operations, and Brian Whitfield, managing partner of Sommet Group, announced in a joint statement.

The Sommet group has indicated that they intend to continue their relationship with the Predators, but they did not provide specifics.

“This has been a very good investment for our company and its products and services and, while the naming rights deal has served its purpose for us, we do intend to maintain some type of partnership going forward,” Sommet Group Managing Partner Brian Whitfield said in a statement. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
