Singer Diane Charlemagne Dies


LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — Singer and songwriter Diane Charlemagne, who provided the soaring vocals for drum & bass classics like Goldie's "Inner City Life" and "Timeless" has died. She was 51.

Charlemagne made a name for herself singing with the funk band 52nd Street before switching to more EMD focused fair, collabortating with the underground house producers Urban Cookie Collective, who provided hits such as "The Key, The Secret."

She went on to work with drum & bass artists such as Goldie, providing the vocals for his seminal 1995 debut album "Timeless" as well as Japanese house producer Satoshi Tomiie and UK producer Joey Negro.

Charlemagne also toured with Moby for his Play album, appearing at Glasto with him in 2003.

Her former collaboration partner Goldie led the memorials to Charlemagne after she died on the 28th, writing on Twitter: "So she went into the early morning… God rest her soul #diane what a gifted voice." – Staff Writers
