SESAC Promotes Pat Collins To President/COO

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Patrick Collins has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of SESAC. Collins, a nine-year SESAC veteran, has most recently served as senior vice president of SESAC and a member of the board of directors. His previous responsibilities encompassed executive oversight of all SESAC licensing, including broadcast, cable, general, satellite and Internet in the United States. He has testified before Congress on legislative issues impacting copyrights and licensing, and is recognized in the industry as a knowledgeable source of information about performing rights globally.

"Pat Collins' 31 years of experience in the performing rights industry has been the most exciting time of growth and change in our business," aid Stephen Swid, SESAC's chairman/CEO. "Pat is an innovator, a leader and a visionary who can help us write the future for our industry and SESAC's writers."

"This is a great company with an unlimited future," Collins says. "The developments and benefits to composers and songwriters since Stephen, Freddie and Ira bought the company in 1992 has been unprecedented. I am proud to be part of this forward-looking team representing writers in radio, television, film as well as exploring new distribution channels and looking to future revenue sources for the thousands of writers and publishers we serve," he added.

Bill Velez, former president/COO of SESAC, left the company last month after ten years. "I have been fortunate to be associated with SESAC during a decade's worth of explosive company growth," Velez said. "My departure is all about seeking new challenges and opportunities for personal growth. I do this with the support of SESAC's principals and the understanding that what I have contributed to SESAC's success is nothing short of a testament to the spirit and dedication of my colleagues — the best team in the business."

Prior to joining SESAC, Collins was at ASCAP for 22 years, where he directed general licensing and its national sales. "We have an enterprising and experienced management team who are dedicated to enhance the licensing business and protect our constituencies," Collins adds. "Most of us have worked together for a long time, and I'm looking forward to helping to lead our team in this exciting time of growth." –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
