Seattle Bands In Benefit For Tsunami Countries

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Presidents of the United States of America and MxPx, two of the best known bands to emerge from the Seattle area's vibrant music scene, will join together to raise money to aid relief efforts in Tsunami ravaged countries. The bands will perform a benefit show on January 12, at the Showbox in downtown Seattle. The show was quickly organized in response to the disaster that struck Southern Asia last week, in an effort to address the urgent medical needs of the victims there. The two bands have never appeared together in the 10 years they have both existed. Seattle duo Smoosh will complete the bill.

The bands and the Showbox will be donating net proceeds from the show to Northwest Medical Teams, a Portland-based group that is sending doctors, nurses, and paramedics with equipment and supplies to countries ravaged by the earthquake and Tsunami. They have already sent teams into Indonesia and Sri Lanka. The money raised by this event will send more personnel and supplies from the Pacific Northwest to the affected region. Contributions may be made at nwmedicalteams.org or by calling (800) 959-HEAL.

Tickets for the all ages concert are $15/ The show will be presented by 107.7 The End, The Stranger, and The Seattle Weekly. –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
