San Diego Club Anthology Shutters

SAN DIEGO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Just a few weeks after the closing of 4th & B, another well-known San Diego music venue is shuttering.

"It is with great sadness that I send this email today to inform you that owner Howard Berkson announced today that Anthology has officially closed its doors and will not be reopening," Anthology's marketing director Casey Pukl wrote in a note sent to local news outlets

Anthology was opened by Berkson, a native of Chicago, in 2007, as a dinner club and music venue. Since then, the club has hosted performances by a wide variety of musical artists, including Parliament-Funkadelic, Meshell Ndegeocello, Joan Osbourne, Bela Fleck and Hubert Sumlin.

The club also hosted two street festivals dubbed StreetBeat in conjunction with local radio station KPRI. This year's StreetBeat had a lineup that included The Wallflowers, Tristan Prettyman, and Walk the Moon as headliners.

The reasons for the club's closure was not reported, but several weeks ago, the club suspended its concert schedule, with a note on their website saying: "We are temporarily postponing our concert schedule due to refurbishment upgrades and repairs. Please check again later when we reopen." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
