Rodney Crowell Cancels All 2017 Tour Dates

NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — Country music Singer-songwriter Rodney Crowell has canceled all of his remaining tour dates through the rest of 2017 on the advice of his doctors.

"An impressive team of doctors have confirmed what for the past year I’ve instinctively known: dealing with the root cause of my health issues requires complete rest," Crowell wrote in press statement posted to his official website. "For the foreseeable future, with expert medical guidance, my work will consist of quietly encouraging my body to return to its natural state. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."

Crowell did not elaborate on the nature of his health issues, but the cancellation comes at an awkward time. Crowell's hit "It Ain't Over Yet" was named Song of the Year at the Americana Honors and Awards and he was touring in support of his latest album, "Close Ties," which he released in March.

Crowell also cancelled a scheduled headlining festival gig at the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Festival last Saturday, also citing unspecified health issues. As well, he was hospitalized in 2016 after experiencing what had been described as "cardiac symptoms" prior to his scheduled performance at a benefit concert in Tennessee.
