Rod Stewart Injured During Concert

LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Singer Rod Stewart was forced to cancel an appearance at the Silver Clef music awards in London after he slipped onstage during a June 28 gig in Manchester and injured his leg.

The 62-year-old singer fell while climbing a step at the beginning of his set but soldiered through the show, in the rain no less. During subsequent treatment, he received 10 stitches for his injury.

His spokesman offered a statement: "Rod Stewart was unable to attend the Nordoff-Robbins Silver Clef lunch to receive his Icon award after cutting his leg on a wet, slippery metal step while making his entrance on stage last night at the City of Manchester Stadium. He performed the entire show in the rain, refusing any medical treatment, and today received 10 stitches to the wound. Happily his doctor has confirmed he will be able to perform tomorrow's (June 30) show at Twickenham Stadium and the Concert For Diana on Sunday (July 1)." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
