Roberto López Named Managing Director, Sony BMG Mexico And Central America & Sony BMG Music Entertainment Appoints Managing Directors For Nordic Countries


(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) –Roberto López has been appointed managing director, Sony BMG Mexico and Central America. He will report directly to Kevin Lawrie, president, Sony BMG Norte, the Latin music division that encompasses the United States, Mexico and Central America

In his new role, López will supervise all label activities in Mexico as well as help formulate artist development and business strategies for Sony BMG Norte. "With his complete understanding of the business and demonstrated willingness to adopt change, Roberto is ideally qualified to lead the new Mexican company," said Lawrie. "I look forward to working closely with him."

López most recently served as managing director, BMG Mexico, where under his leadership the company revitalized the local artist roster, developing in the process the multi-platinum careers of local artists Julieta Venegas, Belinda and recent breakthrough La Quinta Estación. Prior to heading up BMG Mexico, He served as general manager of BMG Argentina since 2000 and before that held positions in various finance-related functions at BMG, PepsiCo and Dow Chemical. Sony BMG Music Entertainment Appoints Managing Directors For Nordic Countries

Maarten Steinkamp, who heads Sony BMG's operations in Continental Europe, appointed managing directors to lead Sony BMG's operations in the Nordic Countries, all reporting directly to him:

** Lena Midtveit, managing director, Sony BMG Norway;
** Per Sundin, managing director, Sony BMG Sweden;

** Henrik Daldorph, managing director, Sony BMG Denmark; and

** Kimmo Valtanen, managing director, Sony BMG Finland.

In addition to his responsibilities as managing director, Sony BMG Sweden, Sundin will also oversee artist marketing coordination, strategic marketing and new business for the Nordic Region.

Midtveit most recently served as managing director, BMG Norway, having risen through the ranks since joining the company in 1993 as royalty/copyright manager. During her decade at BMG Norway, she also served as general manager and marketing director.

Sundin most recently served as managing director, Sony Music Nordic, since 2002. In this role he oversaw Sony's operations in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, while also serving as head of Sony Music Entertainment's company in Sweden, a role he held since 1998. Previously, he was the managing director of Radio City and head of Entertainment at TV4. He first joined CBS Records Sweden in 1984 in Promotion.

Daldorph most recently served as managing director, BMG Denmark, since 2003. Since first joining BMG Denmark as a product manager in 1993, he has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility, including head of marketing and promotion and general manager. Prior to that, he worked in a number of related fields including in music retail, management and as the co-owner of a sound studio and record label.

Valtanen most recently served as marketing manager, BMG Finland, since 1999, having joined the company as promotion manager in 1997. Prior to that, he worked in the music business as the member of a band, a promoter and founder of a record label. –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
