NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Rick Shoor, a former agent for Ian Copeland’s Frontier Booking International from 1980-1988, has joined Red Entertainment's New York offices, and will be booking for the West Coast.
After graduating from the University of Connecticut, Rick moved to New York in 1980 where he was hired by Ian Copeland and John Huie to join them at the fledgling New Wave/Punk agency. The first dates he booked was for then unknown rocker Joan Jett & The Blackhearts who was awaiting the release of the “I Love Rock & Roll” album that would go on to become a multi-platinum hit and would help Mr. Shoor make his name in the agency world.
Among the many acts that he was responsible for at FBI were The GoGo’s, Thompson Twins, Simple Minds, Katrina and the Waves, P.I.L., Siouxsie and the Banshees, Echo & The Bunnymen, Iggy Pop, UB40, Robert Palmer, The Fixx and Squeeze.
After leaving FBI, he briefly formed an artist management company with artists such as NYC progressive metal band Prong on Epic Records and Belgium’s Won Ton Ton on PolyGram. Later Rick formed an indie label, Buzzsaw Records, with Joan Jett and her manager Kenny Laguna. Rick returned to Graduate School after the turn of the century and after obtaining a Masters Degree, became a teacher in the New York City school system.
Regarding his return to the agency business, Shoor says, "The entertainment bug really never left my system. Over the last couple of years I’ve been getting the itch to get back in the game, especially whenever I attend a show, experience backstage or when all the ex-FBI staff get together for drinks. It wasn’t until Ian Copeland passed away last year and received so many calls from bands and managers that I totally realized this is what I was meant to do. I followed my passion and began to work towards working at an agency again. I am very psyched to be back and to be working here at Red Entertainment with their great roster of artists and look forward to adding a little rock & roll to the mix!”
“We are thrilled to have Rick join our team here at Red Entertainment," says Carlos Keyes, President of Red Entertainment Group. “His level of experience in the entertainment industry will undeniably complement our agency." –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
