
HANOVER, Germany (CelebrityAccess) — Fans were evacuated from two venues in the city of Hanover after police reported receiving a specific security threat.
According to multiple news sources, fans were evacuated from a soccer stadium in Hanover after a suspicious object was found at the venue. A second evacuation took place at TUI-Arena, ahead of a performance by the Söhne Mannheims musical group, according to German newspaper Bild.
Volker Kluwe, chief of police in Hanover, told German news agency DPA: “We have received concrete information that someone was planning to set off explosives inside the stadium.”
German newspaper Kreiszeitung reported that police at the stadium discovered an ambulance rigged with explosives parked in the front of the venue. However, Lower Saxony’s interior minister, Boris Pistorius, told the Washington Post that he could not confirm reports that explosives were found in a vehicle outside the stadium.
