Reatard's Autopsy Reveals Cocaine Toxicity

MEMPHIS (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Shelby County Medical Examiner Dr. Karen E. Chancellor revealed that Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., better known as Jay Reatard, died from "cocaine toxicity" with alcohol as an exacerbating factor in his death, according to the Memphis newspaper, The Commercial Appeal.

Reatard had been found deceased in his bed on Jan. 13. A local Fox affiliate had briefly reported that police had been investigating his death as a homicide, but that report was quickly pulled from the news site.

The 29-year-old Reatard had made a name for himself with numerous indie groups, including The Reatards, Angry Angles and the Lost Sounds as well as running a record label, Shattered Records, with partner Alix Brown. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
