Project Music Accelerator Names 2016 Class Of Music Tech Startups


(Hypebot) – While there are a multitude of tech incubators and startup accelerators, only one focuses exclusives on music tech. It is Nashville's Project Music, and it's just named its sophomore class of 7 startups.


Seven music tech startups have been named to join the sophomore class of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center and Country Music Association’s Project Music 2016 Accelerator. While chosen from applications from around the country, these music-centric startups will in Nashville for a 16-week program designed specifically for music related startups.


Project Music saw a 55% increase in applications and seven were chosen for the 2016 program:

  • Concert.Expert: Aladdin Schastlivy (Kiev, Ukraine)
  • Moodsnap: David Blutenthal (Nashville, TN)
  • My Fans Demand: Shaun Cavanaugh (Nashville, TN)
  • nicechart: Steve Morell (San Diego, CA)
  • notetracks: Kam Lal (Montreal, Canada)
  • RecordGram: Erik Mendelson (Miami Beach, FL)
  • Up Next: Ayinde Arnett (Chicago, IL)


    In addition to growth in the number of applications, Project Music 2016 so more come from outside of Nashville, as well as, more developed startups submitting for consideration. This year, over 25% of the applications came from international locations, including Argentina, Dublin, Ireland, China, and Australia. 70% of the applicants have at least a working prototype, with half of those having actual users on their platforms.


    “The dramatic increase in both applicants and their geographic reach signifies a significant milestone for Project Music. It is the culmination of a great deal of effort at the EC lead by Stuart (McWhorter), Heather (McBee) and our initial investors,” said Project Music co-founder Joe Galante.
