BRISBANE (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Ian Haug, guitarist for the rock band Powderfinger has lost in a legal effort to obtain crucial evidence in a lawsuit stemming from his ejection from the Treasury Casino in Brisbane last year.
Haug had been visiting the casino with friends on a birthday outing and after a bout of heavy drinking, was bodily escorted off-premises by security.
Haug contends that he had done nothing to warrant such treatment and that his wrists were bent, twisted and restrained with significant pressure and force throughout".
In pursuance of his lawsuit, Haug had requested video surveillance of the incident from the casino along with training and personnel records of the involved security guards. A judge initially ordered the materials to be released to Haug's legal team but the casino appealed the issues, stating that it was a security breach for them.
The Brisbane Court of Appeal sided with the casino, noting that the requested details are "matters of security relevant to the casino's proper functioning". – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
