Pepsi Arena Figures Off In 2001

Pepsi Arena in Albany, NY, reports that its 2001 profits were off $600,000 from the previous year. The 17,500-capacity, county-owned venue brought in $1.5 million last year vs $2.1 million in 2000.

According to General Manager Bob Belber the venue's revenue dropped because of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the diminishing popularity of boy bands like N'Sync, he told the Daily Gazette. He also noted that they did not get the multiple night shows last year like they did in 2000 and after 11 seasons of arena football, they were without a team, which was sold in 2000. However, a new team, Albany Conquest, starts in April.
