Peer Music Awards Stops Accepting Mail Submissions

Due to concerns over anthrax contamination, Georgia McBride, producer of the first Peer Music Awards, has stopped accepting mail application submissions. Until now, applicants could submit a CD, bio and application through the mail. Now, only online application submissions will be accepted.

"At first I was not too concerned," says McBride. "But then more cases started to be uncovered and I did not want to risk harm to my employees or myself. I made the decision out of concern and consideration for the safety my staff and their families."

The Peer Music Awards are an annual event that recognizes emerging artists in music that are at the time of entry – unsigned to a recording contract.

Music industry experts will choose 10 semi-finalists and music superstar judges will decide the winners of the First Annual Peer Music Awards in a live awards show to be held in January 2002 in New York City.

In addition to award recognition, winners will receive prizes designed to support artist development and career enhancement initiatives including:

* Best Performance: Performance on nationally televised talk or variety show

* Best Personality: One performance on major artist tour in or near winner’s hometown

* Next Big Thing: Personal A&R critique from top A&R executive

* Best Song: Personal songwriting workshop with award wining songwriter

* Shake Your Groove Thang: Personal lesson from top choreographer, Devorah Cooper

* Best Image: Personal publicity workshop from top publicity person

* Visionary: $1,000 equipment prize

* Honorable Mention: $250 gift certificate
