Paul Robinson Appointed President And COO EMI Music South East Asia

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Paul Robinson has been appointed as president & COO of EMI Music South East Asia, reporting to Norman Cheng, chairman & CEO of EMI Music South East Asia. Robinson, who is currently COO of EMI Music Australia, will move to Hong Kong to take up his new position on September 1 while continuing to work for the Australian company until the end of the year.

"I am delighted to welcome Paul as a key member of the South East Asia management team," said Chang. "He has a great track record in helping to manage EMI operations in both the UK and Australia. His experience and skills will be invaluable to us and the creation of this new role will allow me to focus more time on growing EMI's business in South East Asia and the People's Republic of China."

"Over the last two years Paul has made a big contribution to the progress of the company here." said John O'Donnell, managing director of EMI Music Australia. "I would like to thank him for his support, and I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role."

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with Norman and the South East Asia team at such an exciting time," said Robinson. "These markets are strengthening and fully embracing new technology. I am also proud of what has been achieved in the Australian business over the last few years and wish John and the team every success going forward."

Paul Robinson joined EMI UK's international division in 1987 as management accountant. In 1995 he became finance director for Virgin UK, a role he held for six years during which time he was an integral part of the team that developed international success stories such as The Spice Girls, The Verve and Blue. Towards the end of 2001, Alain Levy and David Munns (who had recently joined EMI as chairman & CEO and vice chairman respectively) appointed Robinson as a member of the central team responsible for the global restructuring of EMI. In July 2002, Robinson moved to Australia as COO to work with the then newly-appointed managing director, John O'Donnell. –Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
