Olympia Pacts With Detroit Masons

DETROIT, MI (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Masonic Temple Association of Detroit has announced a pact with Detroit-based Olympia Entertainment to operate and manage the historic Masonic Temple in Detroit. The building, which houses a pair of a auditoriums: the 4,300-seat Masonic Temple Theatre and the 1,600-seat Scottish Rite Theatre, along with a third theater that can be used for stage rehearsals, is located in midtown Detroit.

"This is a win-win for all involved,"” said Olympia Entertainment President Dana Warg. "“We look forward to working with the Masonic Temple Association on developing the complex by booking more events; concerts, Broadway, and family entertainment in the theatres and banquets, weddings, and other types of corporate and private events in the ballrooms and meeting spaces."

Under the agreement, Olympia Entertainment will manage all operations for the building, including booking, event management, marketing, catering, special events, hospitality and parking. Prior to the most recent agreement, Olympia had been responsible for booking music at the venue. The non-profit Masonic Temple Association will continue to own the property.

The deal will help the Masons maintain their building as they had accrued increasingly steep back taxes on the property, amounting to more than $225,000, dating back to 2005. The fraternity has been faced with declining membership and burdened with the infrastructure left over from their heyday. Olympia will lend additional support by upgrading some of the facilities at the Masonic, including upgrades to the kitchen and catering facilities and parking lot upgrades. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
