Ohio State University Files Complaint Over Venue Name

CINCINNATI (CelebrityAccess) — A legal battle is brewing in the state of Ohio over the use of the name 'The Shoe' for concert venues.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Ohio State University filed a complaint with the federal trademark trial and appeal board after Cincinnati's Horseshoe Casino to court after the casino attempted to register the name 'The Shoe' for its concert venue.

The school claims that its stadium is commonly known by the nickname 'The Shoe' and that they compete with the casino in the concert business.

The casino filed for a trademark on the name in 2013. Ohio Stadium, AKA The Horseshoe, first opened in 1922. – Staff Writers
