New York Benefit Pulls In $1.86 Million

The all-star comedy benefit for Mayor Giuliani's Twin Towers Fund held at New York's Carnegie Hall on Oct. 8 grossed $1.859,400. Jerry Seinfeld put the benefit together and enlisted Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, Colin Quin, Will Ferrell and George Wallace to also perform.

Seinfeld's wife Jessica, will work closely with the mayor's office to help distribute the funds to families of firefighters, policemen and other rescue workers who died or were seriously injured in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

"Jessica was very involved in helping Jerry put together the show," said Seinfeld spokeswoman Elizabeth Clark. "She and Jerry even baked cookies to bring over to their local firehouse."
