New Stadium In San Fran?

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has met with the owners of the owners of the San Francisco 49ers to talk about the city’s plans for a new stadium.

The city, along with help from the 49ers, decided to provide $100 million for a new stadium in 1997. With the 49ers lease on Candlestick Park (now called Monster Park) expiring in four years, Mayor Newsome believes the city is wasting time and money.

"The bottom line is we do have a timeline now that requires us to start getting our heads together and start doing the tough work that needs to be done to build a new stadium," Newsom told CBS 5 Eyewitness News.

He added, “…something needs to be done with [the stadium], whether we rehabilitate it, or tear it down and develop a new stadium… [t]he people of San Francisco spoke." — by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
