New Security For Stadiums

The Federal Aviation Administration has instituted temporary air restrictions banning flights within three miles of all stadiums or below an altitude of 3,000 feet during sporting events throughout the United States. This is for all National Football League and college football games this weekend.

Stadiums are instituting other restrictions. Containers, coolers and backpacks will not be allowed in some stadiums. Only small bags deemed necessary will be permitted, and those bags will be searched. Traffic into stadium parking lots will be monitored more closely, resulting in slow access, and cars will not be permitted to park within 100 feet of some stadiums.

For baseball games, there will be no open seating during batting practice at Shea Stadium; fans will have to sit in their assigned seats. There will also be beefed up police presence inside and outside at Shea Stadium. Bomb sniffing dogs will sweep Shea Stadium before the games, and all deliveries made to Shea must be made at their scheduled time.
