Neil Young Gets Political With

In 1970 Neil Young shocked and surprised the rock world with the overtly political "Ohio" after four college students were killed in political protests at Kent State University. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young released the song just a few days after the event.

Neil Young is once again political. This time the terrorist attacks of Sept 11 are the impetus. Even though it has taken a few months for Young to record (with Booker T. and the MG's and Crazy Horse guitarist Frank "Poncho" Sampedro) "Let's Roll," a similar profound reception is brewing. The song was inspired by passengers who overtook the hijackers on United Airlines flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania.

The title is taken from the last words a GTE Airfone operator heard passenger Todd Beamer say before he and others took action.

Young has no plans to release the song as a commercial single, but it is likely to appear on his next album, which is due early next year.
