Nashville's SoBro Summer Nights Canceled After Two Concerts

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — SoBro Summer Nights, Nashville's new eight-week Friday night summer concert series, July 23-September 17, has been cancelled after only two shows. Mad Booking's Marcie Cardwell, promoter and co-creator of the event, pulled the plug on August 2 after Rob Fortney, series co-creator and owner of new club Bluesboro Rhythm & Blues Company, failed to meet financial obligations, she told The Tennesseean. The series was held in a parking lot across the street from the club.

Cardwell told the paper that "Fortney didn't uphold his end of the deal so I walked away and canceled the program."

So he could focus more on his club, Fortney said he gave the series' rights to Mad Booking weeks ago. ''We walked away from it,'' he told the paper.

Bands booked for the remaining four shows will be rescheduled at different venues in Nashville; Garrison Starr's August 6 show has been moved to 12th & Porter. Others in the series include Better Than Ezra, Cracker, Pat McGee Band and Cowboy Mouth. — Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
