Musicians To Play Mount Everest Gig

KATHMANDU, Nepal (CelebrityAccess MediaWIre) — Mike Peters, frontman for Welsh alt-rock outfit The Alarm is organizing a unique fund raising gig on Mount Everest.

Peters, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 1995, has joined with entertainment insurance exec James Chippendale to start the Love Hope Strength Foundation as a "way to pay back medical science" and all the medical professionals who helped treat him.

This October, Peters and Chippendale will lead a group of 40 musicians, cancer survivors and mountaineers to Base Camp to perform an acoustic concert to help the Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital build the infrastructure of its clinic, NCRS, by providing them with much needed equipment and funding. In addition to Peters, Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats, Nick Harper, Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze, Cy Curnin and Jamie West-Oram of The Fixx, are making the climb.

The event, described as a fusion of sports, technology and music will be captured documentary style by MTV producer Alex Coletti, creator of MTV Unplugged. The concert will also be available on iTunes. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writer
