Motor City Music Conference Set For April 20-24


(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Detroit’s music community is launching its very own conference, Motor City Music Conference (MC2), April 20-24. Modeled after SXSW in Austin, Texas and CMJ in New York, MC2 will include 400 bands in 40 downtown Detroit venues, a music and lifestyle tradeshow and music industry panels at the Cobo Conference and Exposition Center. The Detroit Music Awards on April 20, 2005 at State Theatre kicks off the conference.

Derrick May (Transmat), Greg Baise (Majestic/Magic Stick), Rich Hansen (Lagerhouse), Rico Shelton and Mark Hicks (former D12 management) will participate in artist selection which will encompass 40 percent local and 60 percent national hot, up-and-coming artists. Performing bands and artists will be announced in mid-February.

Music promoter Amir Daiza and musician Dana Forrester are the conference co-directors.
