Miller Tapped As GM At SMG's SeaGate Convention Center


TOLEDO, OH (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — SMG's Steve Miller has been name as the new General Manager of the SeaGate Convention Centre and the Lucas County Multipurpose Arena. SMG was selected by the County as the management company to oversee operations at both facilities.

"Steve has the experience and drive to make these facilities successful," Commissioner Pete Gerken said, "our community welcomes you," he added.

"You arrival gives us great hope for the future," said Commissioner Tina Skeldon Wozniak. "This town is ready for the excitement that a new arena/convention center complex will bring," she added.

He was most recently employed as the Assistant General Manager/Director of Sales of DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he oversaw a $200 million expansion of the Convention Center. He also supervised the convention center sales effort of national, regional, and local events. He assisted in the opening the new 12,000-seat Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids. As Event Coordinator, he was responsible for over 100 events including IHL hockey, CBA basketball, concerts, and family shows.

"I feel fortunate that I am able to be here through the construction phase of the new Lucas County Arena, Miller said, "and I expect that our new arena will be a favorite destination similar to Fifth Third Field. I can see hosting concerts like Bruce Springsteen and Neil Diamond and family shows like Disney on Ice, the Doodle Bops and more." he added.

Prior to his work in Grand Rapids he was Coordinator of Events at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum Complex in Winston-Salem, NC responsible for coordination of the Wake Forest University basketball, Division II football, minor league hockey, concerts, and family shows. He was also employed at the Charlotte Coliseum, Charlotte, NC as an Event Manager.

He is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he earned a BA in Sports Management and Communications. He also earned a master's degree in Sports Administration/Facility Management from Ohio University. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
