Miley's Paperless Ticket Heartburn

KANSAS CITY (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Miley Cyrus's rescheduling of her Oct. 3 date in Kansas City date has caused some fans headaches related to Ticketmaster's new paperless ticketing system.

The system was put in place by Ticketmaster earlier this year and the October 3rd performance by the popular teen singing sensation was set to be one of the first of the 'paperless ticket' events to be rescheduled. The system requires the ticket purchaser to be on hand with I.D. to on the day of the show to be admitted.

For concert-goers who can't make the rescheduled October 17 date, the paperless tickets can't simply be handed to friends, or resold on websites like StubHub.

Of course, refunds for the rescheduled date are available at the point of purchase but for fans who'd like to pass their tickets to a friend, things get a bit murky. The venue has indicated that they are willing to work with customers to try to facilitate matters, but took pains to reiterate that ticketing policies were still in effect.

"Paperless ticket rules still apply and there’s no blanket policy for dealing with extenuating situations," Shani Tate, a spokeswoman for the Sprint Center, told the Kansas City Star "we’ll do our best to work through every individual circumstance."

The venue will open their box office early on the day of the show in order to help resolve 'glitches' and a rep from Ticketmaster will be on-hand, the Kansas City Star reported.

The paperless ticketing system had been introduced by Ticketmaster to help fight ticket scalping speculators but has become the target of criticism by some observers who have expressed concerns that the system would serve to push would-be secondary ticket market purchasers to Ticketmaster-approved scalpers. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
