Referred by Rolling Stone magazine as "The Great Torchbearer Of Soul," blues/soul musician Mighty Sam McClain will be inducted into the Louisiana Blues Hall of Fame this September.
McClain has also been nominated for two W.C. Handy Blues Awards – Soul/Blues-Male Artist of the Year and Soul/Blues Album of the Year. The awards will be presented May 24 at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis.
Coming up, McClain will be touring Europe this spring, playing a mix of blues clubs and blues festivals, and has his Joy and Pain Live In Europe – coming out in the U.S. on the Ruf label. The album was recorded live in Germany during the annual Bluesfestival at Town Hall in Detmold on Oct. 11, 1997.
