MEG Signs On As Marketing Consultants For The World

Metropolitan Entertainment Group has become the special marketing consultants for New York's popular Times Square night spot, The World. Last month, MEG announced a similar arrangement with BB King Blues Club & Grill, also in Times Square.

In this position, MEG will raise the profile of The World in the contemporary live music community and to direct marketing efforts for concerts at the club. Some shows at The World will be produced in association with Metropolitan Entertainment Group.

The World opened last September and features state of the art facilities including a Clair Bros. professional touring system, surround-sound, 170 video monitors, a 30-foot projection screen and Video Walls, a complete television recording and editing suite, as well as in-house cameras. A wholly owned subsidiary of World Wrestling Federation Entertainment (WWFE), the entertainment branch of the WWF, the one-acre subterranean complex has a capacity of 1,100 and features a three-tiered stage dance floor, two separate bar areas, and a separate VIP lounge.

"We have the opportunity to take this facility to a whole new level in New York City through a joint relationship with WWFE and Metropolitan," said Kenton Jenkins, vice president and general of WWF NY, who oversees the venue. "We now have an incredibly powerful marketing machine behind The World that will take us to unparalleled levels of entertainment that NYC has not seen on a regular basis."

MEG's Carl Freed added, "We're thrilled to be able to book shows and to help market shows at The World. This club, together with BB King Blues Club & Grill, gives us two important venues in the heart of Times Square to develop new and upcoming artists at the 1,000-seat level."
