Mayan Madness Moved After Permitting Trouble

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico (CelebrityAccess) — AN EDM festival in Mexico was forced to change venues at the last minute after their original choice was temporarily declared off limits due to permitting issues.

Originally scheduled for March 26th in Tulum National Park, the Maya Madness festival was forced to move after state officials found that festival organizers had constructed fixed and semi-fixed structures in protected areas of the park without permits.

Guillermo Haro Bélchez, federal attorney for Federal Environmental Protection said that the venue would be temporarily closed until all of the issues with the structures had been addressed.

Federal authorities also claimed that festival organizers failed to attend an inspection meeting regarding permits for the temporary structures built in the park.

Organizers moved the festival to Playa Mamitas in Playa del Carmen.

The festival, now in its third year, featured headliners Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, W&W, Mattn, and Sander van Doorn.

Maya Madness Electronic Music Festival organizers announced the event will be held on March 26 at Playa Mamitas in Playa del Carmen starting at 5:00 p.m. – Staff Writers
