Matt "Guitar" Murphy Fundraiser

Matt "Guitar" Murphy, the 72-year-old guitarist, recently suffered a stroke, and David "Lefty" Foster, who has sung with Murphy for the past two decades, has organized a benefit concert for Murphy in Boston on January 4. Like many old-time musicians, Murphy, a native of Mississippi, has never had health insurance.

"There's unbelievable hospital bills, half his body is numb, and he can't play for at least eight more months," Foster says. He also says that Jeff Beck has called Murphy "his absolute favorite guitar player."
