Warner Music Group and Streamwaves, a Dallas-based digital entertainment company, have
entered into a non-exclusive licensing agreement to provide Streamwaves' customers in the USA and Canada instant access to WMG-controlled recordings. WMG is the third major label to grant Streamwaves a license for sound recordings. Previously, Streamwaves secured sound recording rights from EMI Recorded Music and Universal Music Group. The agreement with WMG marks another significant step in Streamwaves' mission to offer unlimited music in a user-friendly manner on the Web.
"Our goal is to offer our customers an unparalleled experience when it comes to innovating the way musical entertainment is delivered and enjoyed," Streamwaves CEO Jeff Tribble said. "We live in a real-time, on-demand society in which customization is key. Our interface, coupled with the deep music catalog of Warner Music Group, will deliver what all end-users are looking for — premium selection at a fantastic value."
Streamwaves is currently developing a distribution network of on and off-line retail partners to offer the Streamwaves service under various brands. The company believes its easy-to-use interface and personalization features will create a compelling consumer offering.
Ty Herndon Says Bye To Epic
After five albums with Epic, Ty Herndon has left the label and is shopping for a new home. Herndon joins a number of other artists, including Jack Ingram, who have exited Sony's Nashville labels since its recent restructuring.
