John Fenton Of Boulder's Tulagi Club Passes

DENVER, CO (CelebrityAccess) — John Fenton, former owner and operator of the infamous nightclub and concert venue Tulagi, passed away last Sunday April 3rd of an undetailed cause. One of the few live music venues in Boulder at the time, John promoted bands from the mid-80s through the mid-90s including The Samples, Big Head Todd, and Dave Matthews as well as dozens of up and coming, local and national acts. Many of these artists would have had a much harder time getting traction in Boulder’s, then nascent, live music scene without John’s support and willingness to give them a place to play.

Ted Guggenheim, former manager of The Samples reflects, ”John Fenton and Tulagi were as synonymous in that decade, as Chuck Morris and Tulagi were in the 70’s. Tulgais was home base for The Samples for many years and we always knew that John would take care of us and make it a great night for our fans. He was a dear friend of mine and stand-up guy, who has left the earth far too early.”

A memorial service in Denver will be held Monday April 11th in Denver. Details can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/843836085745811/
