Jimmy Buffett Opens New Margaritaville Beach Resort

HOLLYWOOD BEACH, FL (CelebrityAccess) — Jimmy Buffett finally got to play in the iconic Bandshell in Hollywood, performing there with the Coral Reefer Bandas as a part of the opening festivities of the Margaritaville Beach Resort, his new, branded vacation destination.

The resort, which cost $175 million to build, features 350 rooms, eight bars and a spa. The resort also assumed responsibility for upkeep and programming of the bandshell on the property as a part of its lease deal with the city. The most recent incarnation of the bandshell was built in the 1970s, but its roots hearken back to the original, which was built in 1924 by Hollywood beach Founder Joseph W. Young.

The agreement also stipulates that the resort book live acts at the bandshell at least five nights a week between 7 and 9 p.m., and to review the entertainment schedule with the city every three months, the Sun-Sentinel said.

As part of the build-out for the resort, the Bandshell saw some upgrades as well, including a new lighting system, new aluminum seating (sounds comfy) and a fresh coat of paint.

"We're excited to begin providing entertainment again at this Johnson Street staple," Margaritaville Hollywood's General Manager Cate Farmer told the Sun-Sentinel. "It's still free of cost and a great place to come and enjoy live entertainment on the Broadwalk." – Staff Writers
