Jeff Chabon Named GM At Kansas ExpoCentre

TOPEKA, Kansas (CelebrityAccess) — Industry veteran Jeff Chabon has been tapped by SMG to serve as the general manager of the Kansas Expocentre. Chabon will step into the role in place of H.R. Cook, who moved to Dubuque, IA as regional general manager for the company.

"We're pleased to bring Jeff into the SMG family," said H.R. Cook, "and we're excited about his potential for expanding the entertainment options at the Kansas Expocentre. I couldn't be happier about the person taking my place in Topeka."

Prior to his new posting at the Expocentre, Chabon served as director of booking at the AT&T Center, one of many roles he's held over the course of his 35-year career. He cut his teeth in minor league sports as marketing and group sales director for the Toledo Mud Hens and Toledo Goaldiggers before moving into the concert world, first with Fantasma Productions in Florida.

Chabon went on to handle marketing efforts at World Entertainment Services at Sandstone Amphitheater, Concert Productions International/BCL Group, the Palladium Amphitheatre at Carowinds Theme Park, and another stint at Fantasma before launching Chabon Entertainment Group in 1992. CEG enabled corporations to own their own concert tours and events, creating the Heineken Music that Makes History Tour and West Palm Beaches' CityPlace Entertainment.

He moved CEG to Nashville in 2001 and his clients included TBA Entertainment, Compendia Records, WRLT Lightning 100 Radio, Nashville Rhythm (ABA team) and Tony'n Tina's Wedding/Las Vegas. CEG later evolved into Chabon Group to work in the not-for-profit sector of entertainment before Chabon was hired by AEG Facilities in 2008 as booking director at the AT&T Center and Freeman Coliseum for Spurs Sports and Entertainment. – Staff Writers
