Its The End-Times For Godstock

JOPLIN, MO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Joplin Police and the Missouri attorney general’s office have launched an investigation following the wake of the cancellation of Godstock, a christian music festival that had been planned for earlier this month in Joplin, Mo.

The investigation was launched in response to several complains that had been lodged against festival organizer Derrick Gates of OnFire Productions by vendors who allege that Gates and female companion owe them money, to the tune of $3,400, the Joplin Globe reported.

At least 5 vendors have filed complaints against the festival. One couple, kettle corn vendors Rick and Debbie Ross, claim to be out $400 dollars. Ross told the Globe "He kept saying ‘the money is in the mail."

Gates claims to have retained a lawyer to help guide him through the legal straits he has sailed into and that he is, according to the Globe, working on a plan to pay everyone back.

The Globe reports that no warrant has been issued for Gates and his companion, identified as Nena Gates

The free festival, originally planned as a three-day event to be held in June 2007 at Landreth Park in Joplin, but was postponed and moved to a different location before finally being canceled, apparently for good on August 27th.

In a post on the OnFire's myspace page, Gates makes the claim that the festival was canceled when one of a group of Christians met with him and urged him to scrap the event based on "prophetic messages" as well as contract issues, and that the cancellation occured only when one of this group of Christians placed a call to the festival's sponsors, prompting them to pull support. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
